Egyptian club Zamalek celebrated into the night after defeating Moroccan side RSB Berkane 1-0 to secure the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday. The Cairo-based team clinched the trophy on aggregate, having entered the second leg at Cairo International Stadium trailing 2-1 from the first leg in Morocco.
Striker Ahmed Hamdi scored in the 23rd minute, leveling the tie and winning the title for Zamalek on away goals. This marks Zamalek’s second Confederation Cup victory, their first coming in the 2018/2019 season, also against Berkane, who were defeated in a penalty shootout.
Berkane, seeking to overturn the deficit, faced a setback when defender Hamza El Moussaoui received a red card late in the game. Despite relentless attacks, Berkane couldn’t break through Zamalek’s solid defense, leaving the Egyptian side to lift the cup.
