A devastating incident has claimed the lives of 7 university students in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. The students, who were undergraduates at Niger Delta University (NDU), died on Monday night from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
According to reports, the students had been working late in a music studio in the Amarata area of Yenagoa, the state capital. They fell asleep in the locked studio with a generator still running, which is believed to have caused the tragic incident.
Police spokesperson Musa Mohammed confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. “Based on what we have seen, carbon monoxide poisoning due to generator fumes is a possible cause,” he said.
The victims were identified as students of NDU, who were involved in the music recording business to support their education.
