The All-African Movement Assembly (AAMA) 2024 is scheduled to take place on August 30th and 31st in Accra, Ghana, marking one of the most important gatherings of African movements, activists, and human rights defenders. Organized by Africans Rising, a Pan-African movement dedicated to peace, justice, and dignity, the assembly will focus on fostering unity across the continent.
Under the theme “Towards Pan-African Solidarity: United We Stand, Divided We Fall,” this year’s assembly will bring together over 400 in-person participants and 1,000 virtual attendees from across Africa and the diaspora. AAMA 2024 offers a vital platform to evaluate the collective efforts of Africans in advancing unity, justice, peace, and dignity.
The event will feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including Kumi Naidoo, the African Rising Ambassador and renowned human rights advocate; Samia Nkrumah, President of the Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Center (KNAC); Pierre-Christophe Gam, a visionary polymath artist; and Hardi Yakubu, Coordinator of Africans Rising. These leaders will share their insights and guide discussions on the continent’s challenges and opportunities.
The assembly is being held amidst a challenging socio-political climate in Africa, where civic spaces are shrinking, and repression is on the rise. Africans Rising emphasized the urgent need for collective dialogue and unified action in the face of increasing crackdowns on dissent, harassment, abductions, and even killings of activists.
Recent protests in countries such as Senegal, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and Uganda have underscored the pressing need for improved living conditions, dignity, and respect for human rights, particularly among the youth. AAMA 2024 aims to address these critical issues, reinforcing the importance of Pan-African solidarity during these challenging times.
